Baker + Hesseldenz Studio's 'Dudley' Gives Dining Chairs a Good Name

Midcentury modern design popularized sleek lines and space-saving, storage-friendly, stackable styles such as the Series 7 chair (designed in 1955 by Arne Jacobsen) and the S-shaped Panton chair (designed in 1960).

The aesthetic continues to resonate far beyond the time in which it was first realized. But Baker + Hesseldenz Studio might just have a dramatic response to interior enthusiasts’ beloved vibe.

The studio consists of Scott Baker and Mary Ann Hesseldenz, the former of whom hails from a storied lineage of furniture makers. (Sound familiar?) It’s perhaps this very inherited knowledge and historical context that makes the Studio particularly apt at designing furniture that is at once timeless and avant garde.

Enter the Dudley, a dining chair that prioritizes luxury over pragmatism and comfort over idealism.

“The chair is crafted from walnut with solid-bronze slats that are individually hand-shaped in our shop to give the appearance that they have been ‘woven’ through the back structure. The back perches atop a tall comfortable cushion,” Baker said of the design.

And with the option to finish the design with casters, a swivel base, or fixed feet—customer’s choice—these chic, luxe dining chairs will be right at home in your entertaining space. (We’re swivel fans, ourselves, to be frank!)

Engineered specifically for “hours of dinner conversation,” Dudley is perfect for hosting guests—and is equally suited for your own solitudinal relaxation.
