Klein Agency

Klein Agency

Klein Agency is an architecture, furniture, and research focused studio, founded with a simple promise to design and build honest spaces and objects. The American-Slovenian duo began this pursuit in Antwerp, Belgium, and continue today in Los Angeles, California. With projects ranging from small objects to large spaces, the studio delivers integrity through a rich appreciation for raw materiality, no matter the scale. The studio continues to build upon an architectural language that is not shy of aesthetics, but resists fashion and trends.
Klein Agency is a Los Angeles–based studio that has the dexterity to craft thoughtful spaces from the inside out. With services extending to furniture design and production, interior design, and architecture, Klein agency—which has been operating since 2012—is responsible for buzzy gastronomic spaces such as L.A.'s Auburn, helmed by chef Eric Bost.

Tokyobike Flagship / Retail

The minimalist bicycle brand Tokyobike engaged us to design and develop their flagship store in Los Angeles. The design focuses on elevating their bikes upon formed aluminum platforms, all custom designed and built. The bikes engage with the platforms through a custom mounting element. A language of minimal steel and aluminum elements is intertwined with warm oak, concrete and rubber surfaces.

Auburn / Restaurant

In collaboration with Chef Eric Bost, we designed auburn as an homage to both craftsmanship and natural materials. We worked as design architects as well as furniture designers and conceived the space as if stepping into a friends home, as a warm, domestic shell with the fine-tuned operations of an internationally driven kitchen at its hearth. Working closely with a small team of craftsmen locally, we designed and fabricated a bespoke range of furniture and hardware tailored specifically for auburn.

Bon Temps / Restaurant

When chef Lincoln Carson walked us through the old Heinz’s test kitchen space in DTLA a few years ago, we fell in love immediately. Old bones, chipped brick, tiny alley. The vibe was fantastic and oddly familiar. We have since worked towards designing and fabricating this space into a post-industrial dream where the chef’s insane pastry skills come to life and where functional utility and solid materials shine in all their unspoiled glory.

Klein Home / Dining Chair GH2

Reminiscent of an old farmhouse chair, the Dining Chair GH2 is second in the collection of chairs designed for the restaurant Auburn in Los Angeles. The piece is handcrafted by our team of local craftsmen and upholstered in any of our standard Klein Home Collection leather variations.

Klein Home / Bar Cart

Modified when working on the Auburn Restaurant project, our Klein Home Bar got wheels. It’s a heavy weight laser-cut sheet steel unit, with all the material engagements that were developed for our standard Home Bar - there’s a leather top that seamlessly fits on the top steel tray with a steel band around it; there are thin oak slats tracking through the piece and engaging seamlessly with the steel frame and there are now four wheels letting you move that party surrounding the Bar Cart to any one of your rooms.

Klein Home / Dining Chair GH3

Designed for a private dining room at Auburn restaurant in Los Angeles, Dining Chair GH3 works with a familiar white oak wood frame as the other two chairs in the GH Chair Collection, and additionally boasts an oversized seat bucket. Wrapped in leather from all sides, it exudes comfort and calls for long nights around the dinner table.

Klein Home / Bar Stool GH and Lounge Chair GH

Drawing on the elegant laser cut profile lines, the Lounge Chair GH and Bar Stool GH have been vigorously prototyped in search for the most comfortable seat angle to lounge and rest in or have a drink at the bar. Initially placed inside Auburn’s lounge and bar area, the chairs has been added into the mix of Klein Home collection, offered in all our standard finishes.
