The recently-reopened Frick Collection has appointed Julia Day as its chief conservator.

Julia Day has returned to the Frick Collection as chief conservator, bringing nearly two decades of institutional knowledge and a steady, detail-oriented approach. She previously helped establish the museum’s early conservation program in a modest space and later honed her craft at the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi. In her new role, Day will oversee the state-of-the-art Sherman Fairchild Center for Art Conservation—a major upgrade that includes a radiography lab and expanded workspace. Her appointment ensures the Frick’s newly enhanced conservation infrastructure reflects the same thoughtful stewardship seen throughout its recent renovation.

Google’s AI Overviews are feared to present an “existential threat” to news organizations.

News organizations are raising alarms over Google’s AI Overviews, citing new research that shows steep declines in website traffic when summaries appear above search results. A study by analytics firm Authoritas found that first-ranked links can lose nearly 80% of their traffic when displaced by A.I.-generated answers. Another report, from the Pew Research Center, showed that users rarely click links beneath these summaries—only once in every 100 searches. Critics, including the News Media Association and advocacy groups like Foxglove, accuse Google of siphoning content to boost its own tools while undermining the sustainability of independent journalism.

Art Basel Miami Beach confirms 285 exhibitors will show at its next edition.

Art Basel Miami Beach will host 285 galleries in its upcoming edition, maintaining the same number as last year. Returning heavyweights include Hauser & Wirth, Gagosian, and David Zwirner. The fair’s Meridians sector, devoted to large-scale projects, will return with curation by Yasmil Raymond (her second year helming the beloved division). The announcement comes as major galleries continue to test new formats and markets, including Hauser & Wirth’s recent collaboration with Société during Berlin Art Week.

The Notre-Dame cathedral will soon welcome its own A.I.-powered “digital twin,” care of Microsoft.

Microsoft will create a centimeter-accurate digital twin of Notre-Dame Cathedral using A.I., drones, lasers, and imaging technology, in partnership with Iconem and France’s Ministry of Culture. The model will help conservators monitor structural changes, support future restoration, and allow scholars to study hard-to-reach areas of the landmark. It builds on Microsoft’s previous efforts to digitize sites like St. Peter’s Basilica and is part of its broader Culture A.I. initiative. A digital archive of the cathedral will be donated to the French state and eventually shown at the forthcoming Musée de Notre Dame de Paris.

Hauser & Wirth doesn’t have a Berlin gallery, but it’s popping up there with Société.

Aside from its forthcoming presence at Art Basel Miami Beach, Hauser & Wirth is staging its first-ever project in Berlin with a group show hosted at Société during Berlin Art Week. The exhibition, titled “States of Being,” brings together more than 30 artists from both galleries’ rosters, spanning estates, mid-century figures, and contemporary voices. Highlights include works by Louise Bourgeois, Rashid Johnson, and Phyllida Barlow, alongside pieces by Petra Cortright, Lu Yang, and Darren Bader. The show reflects a growing interest in cross-gallery collaborations and Berlin’s renewed relevance in Europe’s art market.
