A $900,000 gift will make MoMA PS1 admission free to all beginning in January.

A $900,000 donation from Sonya Yu will make MoMA PS1 free to all visitors starting in January, removing admission fees for the next three years. The gift supports the museum’s efforts to expand access, particularly to local Queens communities, and builds on existing initiatives like language access programs and partnerships with neighborhood organizations. Museum leadership expects the policy to increase attendance, aiming for 180,000 visitors by the end of 2026 and 500,000 within five years. The initiative coincides with MoMA PS1’s 50th anniversary, which will feature special exhibitions and expanded programming throughout the year.

The Hermès heirs’ new holding company is embarking on a slew of luxury acquisitions.

Krefeld, the Hermès heirs’ family office, is expanding its investment ambitions beyond the luxury house that made the family wealthy. The company has launched Breithorn Holding to manage funds and assets, with Charles-Henri Chaliac appointed as CEO. Breithorn Holding has already taken minority stakes in companies such as Anjac Health & Beauty and French insurer Albingia, signaling a broader acquisition strategy. Backed by the family’s €186 billion fortune and substantial dividends from Hermès, the holding company now has the capital and structure to pursue a series of luxury and high-value investments.

MAC Cosmetics managed to ink a nearly impossible partnership with Chappell Roan.

MAC Cosmetics secured a rare long-term global partnership with Chappell Roan, an artist who has consistently rejected brand deals. The collaboration emerged after a year of careful engagement, driven by shared values around art, self-expression, and LGBTQ+ advocacy. MAC aims to leverage Roan’s authenticity to reinvigorate the brand through creative campaigns and exclusive projects, while the singer sees the partnership as aligned with her principles and community work. This agreement marks Roan’s first formal ambassadorship and positions MAC to reconnect with younger, culturally engaged audiences.

Hariri Pontarini Architects has completed Canada’s tallest skyscraper in Toronto.

Hariri Pontarini Architects has completed Pinnacle SkyTower in Toronto, making it Canada’s first building to surpass 100 stories and the country’s tallest skyscraper at an estimated 1,154 feet. The residential tower features a 12-sided, glazed form with chamfered corners, balconies on one side, and amenities including a restaurant on its 106th floor. Positioned prominently in Toronto’s Harbourfront neighbourhood, the building aligns visually with the CN Tower and is designed to withstand strong winds from Lake Ontario. SkyTower reflects the city’s accelerating skyline growth and will begin welcoming residents in 2026.

Behind Spotify’s viral Wrapped stats, shareholder pressure is looming large.

Spotify’s 2025 Wrapped highlights the platform’s growing ability to analyze user behavior, introducing metrics like “Listening Age” that compare individual tastes to peers. While Wrapped is playful, it underscores Spotify’s potential for granular ad targeting, a key concern as the company faces shareholder pressure to increase ad revenue from its free, ad-supported users. Spotify recently launched a programmatic ad exchange to better monetize listening data, though its inferences about users can be inconsistent. The platform’s data capabilities may extend beyond Wrapped, hinting at future advertising strategies that respond not just to interests, but to moods and behaviors.
