Founded by Gabriela Anastasio Holloway, Anastasio Home began in 2021 as a way to preserve and champion craftspeople—from New England furniture makers to Italian high-jewelry houses—through contemporary design commissions. Holloway left her position in the Swiss luxury watch industry to refocus on a different type of heirloom-quality goods. With ensuing collaborations ranging from Auberge Resorts Collection to Crown Affair, and the opening of a 2024 showroom in Canton, Connecticut, the founder has advanced the custom stone and metal furniture category.

“Materials are never surface-level decisions for us,” Anastasio Holloway tells Surface. “Stone, metal, glass, and wood are chosen for their physical intelligence—how they age, how they’re touched, how they hold temperature, how they signal permanence or lightness in a space. Because we work directly with our own team of artisans, we design with full fluency in process, scale, and longevity.”
Anastasio Home’s design process is driven by behavior first. “Who touches this object? In what emotional state? How often? Under what operational conditions?” Anastasio Holloway explains. “From there, we prototype obsessively—refining mass, balance, edge softness, and proportion until the object feels resolved rather than styled.” The process is both disciplined and subtractive as the designers work toward an object that feels calm and enduring.
“Anastasio Home began in retail, but retail was never the destination—it was the laboratory,” Anastasio Holloway continues. “Building a consumer brand allowed us to pressure-test materials, scale fabrication, and develop a rigorous design language in real time. What emerged was something larger: a studio capable of designing objects, co-branded capsules, and site-specific pieces that operate at the intersection of design, brand, and experience.”
Since its inception, collaboration has been integral to the design studio. This began with the California-based brand of plant-based bath products Corpus Naturals. “The founder, J.P. Mastey, a friend from my watch world days, is a watch connoisseur but also a serial brand builder—he founded and sold Baxter of California before starting Corpus,” Anastasio Holloway says of their soap dish collaborator.
Last week, Anastasio Home released a ritual cup set with Crown Affair, designed to align with the brand’s new Overnight Repair Serum. “The cup and coaster set is a hand-carved marble vanity vessel to hold your hair brushes, clips, and jewelry,” Anastasio Holloway says. “They are so delightful to hold, that some have purchased up to four sets to be used to serve hot bone broth or tea. No matter the use, we want to make objects that sisters fight over at estate sales in 2095.”
“I spent 18 years working inside of and alongside global luxury brands, which fundamentally shaped how I design,” she adds. “I understand how buy-in is built inside large organizations—how creative ideas need to align across brand, marketing, operations, and leadership to move forward.” Whether exhibiting at BDNY or designing large-scale collaborations, Anastasio Home “exists as an applied sculptural practice: disciplined, material-led, and deeply intentional,” the founder concludes. And while the studio makes beautiful objects, it also takes into consideration the meaning of permanence.
