At the Brooklyn Academy of Music, a Glittering Night Devoted to the Performing Arts

Last week, the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) hosted its 2025 Trailblazer Gala—a night dedicated to the art of performance, honoring Serge Laurent and Charles J. and Irene F. Hamm. The evening kicked off with cocktails at the Harvey Theater before a private gala-night performance of the Tony-nominated Macbeth in Stride. Afterward, guests enjoyed a three-course dinner, served onstage at the Howard Gilman Opera House. During dinner, Laurent, the director of dance and culture programs for Van Cleef & Arpels, and the Hamms, for whom the BAM Hamm archives are named, were toasted for their contributions to the performing arts world. Notables in attendance included Mikhail Baryshnikov, Whitney White, Constance Wu, Michael Imperioli, Hanif Abdurraqib, Tony Kushner, Patsy Ferran, and more. Photo credit: Jason Crowley/BFA
