With Burning Man just around the corner, take a first look at some of this year’s installations.
Beginning on August 24, this year’s edition of Burning Man will center Temple of the Deep, a modular timber installation by Miguel Arraiz Garcia that doubles as a ritual space. Other notable works include Our Ouroboros, a luminous, touch-sensitive inflatable loop by Youtian Duan and Kai Zhang, and Ancestors of Dawn, a collaboration using bioluminescent organisms and mycelium to evoke ancestral memory. Amy Charbonneau’s SsssWhirlwind adds a symbol-rich spiral structure reflecting cycles of transformation and resilience.
Denmark has proposed legislation to permit citizens to copyright their voice and likeness.
Denmark has introduced legislation that would allow citizens to copyright their own voice, face, and body to prevent unauthorized use in A.I.-generated deepfakes. If passed, the law would let individuals demand takedowns and seek damages for deepfakes that feature them without consent, while still allowing for satire and parody. The proposal, backed by most of Parliament, positions Denmark ahead of other European countries, where similar protections focus more narrowly on labeling or specific types of harm.

A new U.S.-Vietnam trade deal levies 20 percent tariffs on imports and steep levies for “transshipping.”
The new U.S.–Vietnam trade deal imposes a 20 percent tariff on many Vietnamese imports and a 40 percent penalty on goods deemed to be “transshipped” from China—meaning items largely made in China but routed through Vietnam to bypass tariffs. This raises concerns for brands like Nike and Adidas, which manufacture in Vietnam using Chinese materials, blurring the line between standard global sourcing and practices the U.S. now views as evasive. The policy could upend supply chains and force companies to rethink Vietnam as an alternative to Chinese production.
