Designed by CetraRuddy, the light-filled, gallery-like Sky Garden Penthouse of the sinuous residential tower 200E20TH now hosts “Garden’s Edge,” an exhibition of works by lauded female artists Alexandria Tarver, Chellis Baird, and Julia Whitney Barnes. Set to a panoramic view of Gramercy Park and 360-degree views of the city, the group show contrasts the skyline and its urban iconography with artistic allusions to the natural world. Throughout, the full-floor penthouse affirms that art comes to life in the context of a home.

The three New York-based artists provided 10 works for the exhibition. Floral studies by Alexandria Tarver, represented by Nino Mier Gallery, marry poetic depictions with a hint of scientific illustration. SLAG&RX Gallery’s Chellis Baird beguiles with mixed-media compositions from upcycled textiles. Julia Whitney Barnes, on the roster of Kenise Barnes Fine Art, captivates with her signature Cyanotype imagery. Together, this carefully curated selection nods to the city’s unique ecological footprint.
