Get Up Stand Up: Artists for Jamaica and Los Angeles’ Art Week Auction Raised Over $500,000

In the midst of L.A. Art Week, CORE (Community Organized Relief Effort) and TBA 21 Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary hosted the cocktail and benefit “Get Up Stand Up: Artists For Jamaica and Los Angeles,” complete with an auction that raised more than $500,000. Produced by Rachael Barrett and Lauren Taschen, the gathering saw a slate of artists—including Nikolai Haas, Urs Fischer, Dustin Yellin, and Savannah Baker, as well as gallerists Hannah Traore and Thaddaeus Ropac—mingling with celebrities and culturati. The fundraiser’s spectacular main event was led by Simon de Pury, who connected donated art pieces by the likes of Fischer and Alvaro Barrington with eager attendees. In fact, Diplo and Winnie Harlow kicked off the auction with a bidding war for one of Baker’s photographs. A special performance by Santigold was an exclamation point to the night. An online auction remains open through de-pury.com, featuring pieces by Hank Willis Thomas, Tomás Saraceno, and Ragnar Kjartansson.
