A Bucolic Day at the Glass House in New Canaan

Over the weekend, the Glass House hosted its annual summer benefit, bringing together notable figures in the design world in the name of the historic site’s preservation. The party honored the late Gaetano Pesce and featured the debut of Edizioni del Pesce, Big Surprise 2, a vase created in collaboration with Meritalia and inspired by Pesce’s Feltri chairs, which Glass House architect Philip Johnson acquired for the property. Guests meandered the 49-acre site over a leisurely afternoon punctuated by performances by the modern dance company Pilobolus, a silent auction, and a picnic lunch by New Canaan favorite, Elm. "It was a special occasion to come together and directly support the preservation and continued vitality of one of the most important works of Modernist architecture in the world,” said Glass House executive director Kirsten Reoch in a statement. Notables in attendance included Daisy Desrosiers, Maximilian Eicke, Irina Kro Eicke, Lauren Daly, Debbie Propst, Pete Brockman, Fred Bernstein, César Giraldo, Cas Friese, and more.
