A Sparkling Night of Crystal and Conversation at Lalique’s Maison d’Artiste

On June 10, haute crystal house Lalique’s Upper East Side townhouse—which happens to be the former residence of Diana Ross—came to life under the vision of Romilly Newman. The night was the first of Newman’s salon-style series of dinner parties, for which the chef and food stylist tapped fellow chef and Lalique collector Daniel Boulud to create a culinary menu for an intimate group of cultural figures across art, design, fashion, and entertainment. The night began on the maison’s fourth floor bar and lounge, where guests mingled over Deutz champagne and pours of single malt scotch by The Glenturret. Downstairs, guests found a tablescape full of Lalique glassware, Bernardaud porcelain and Christofle silver to accompany chef Boulud’s menu of French classics including pea veloute, roasted rack of lamb, and a creme broulée-filled chocolate “bomb.” Notably absent from the night was an excess of cellphones at the dinner table, as guests regaled each other with stories of the townhouse’s past lives and an unfiltered dissection of New York City’s cultural zeitgeist. Notables in attendance included Ann Dexter-Jones, Batsheva Hay, Elizabeth “Liz” Gillies, Sydney Lemmon, Chi Ossé, Andrew Tess, Alina Timo, Patrick Foley, Sean Dooley, and more.
