A century ago, Le Bristol opened its doors on Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré. Today, the limestone façade remains a sight for all who pass by—a beacon of the enduring legacy of Parisian palace hotels. A new addition for its centenary, Spa Le Bristol by La Mer, provides a sanctuary that demonstrates the five-star property’s commitment to the future, as well.

Still, 100 years of innovations later, the hotel prides itself on sustaining some of the old-world charm that guests revere: a slow but ever-so-charming mechanical elevator that climbs the floors with a metal cage door and keys attached to chunky keychains. The latter can be checked at the hotel door before leaving for the afternoon, though it’s more fun to take with you and feel the weight of Le Bristol in your pocket through the day.

Set back from the bustle of Rue de Rivoli and the Tuileries Garden, Le Bristol remains as accessible as any of the grand hotels of Paris without making travelers confront the hordes of tourists flooding the surrounding streets. It’s easy to enjoy an entire day within its walls. The rooms, each with a soothing robin’s egg blue color palette, feel relaxing from the first light through the windows. The rooftop indoor pool welcomes respite in the colder months too. The hotel has even built its luxury offerings to the highest echelons, with a $46,000 Imperiale Suite on offer in a collaboration from artist George Condo and interior designer Pierre‑Yves Rochon.
