Sculptor Duncan Chamberlain Hosts an Alfresco Dinner with Ned’s Club at The Surf Lodge

As the sun set over The Surf Lodge, and English electronic duo Disclosure performed on the nearby waterfront stage, sculptor Duncan Chamberlain welcomed guests to an alfresco dinner in celebration of Ned’s Club NoMad’s artist-in-residence program, hosted on the legendary Montauk property. Alongside a summery tablescape, which integrated works by Duncan and his father [the late artist John Chamberlain], The Ned NoMad and Ned’s Club NoMad executive chef, Luca Capasso, grilled striped bass and tomahawk steak. For some, the evening ended with a guided tasting of Louis XIII cognac; for others, The Surf Lodge’s dancefloor beckoned. Duncan’s large-scale works were already integrated into the sand along Fort Pond. “Having spent years working alongside my father on Shelter Island, this opportunity feels like a full-circle moment,” Duncan shared with Surface. “There’s a deep history here, and being able to share my work in a place so rooted in artistic creativity, in a part of the world where I have such beautiful memories, means a great deal to me and I feel grateful for the opportunity.” Duncan’s artist-in-residence dinner was the second of the season, with a third scheduled for August—and only one part of Ned's Club's cultural integration into The Surf Lodge.
