Rachel Scott has been announced as the new creative director of Proenza Schouler.

Rachel Scott, founder of the New York-based label Diotima and the 2024 winner of the CFDA’s Womenswear Designer of the Year award, has been appointed creative director of Proenza Schouler. She succeeds the label’s founders and former creative directors Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, who stepped down earlier this year before moving to Loewe. Scott officially started in August and will oversee all categories, with her first full collection for the house set to debut in February 2026. She will continue to run Diotima while shaping Proenza’s next chapter.

Climate activists have defaced Antoni Gaudí’s Sagrada Familia cathedral.

Climate activists from the group Futuro Vegetal hurled red and black paint at Barcelona’s Sagrada Família, denouncing Spain’s response to this summer’s devastating wildfires. The action, filmed and shared online, ended with the arrest of two protesters who were later fined. The group said the act was meant to call out the government’s inaction on record heat and fires that scorched the country this summer. Spain’s prime minister has since announced a new climate plan, though activists argue the measures fall short.

David Hockney will present new work with London’s Serpentine Galleries.

Following the close of his retrospective at Fondation Louis Vuitton, David Hockney will present new work at London’s Serpentine Galleries in spring 2026. The show, the artist’s first with the institution, will highlight his iPad drawings, including recent additions to the Sunrise and Moon Room series. Serpentine will also display A Year in Normandie (2020–21), a monumental frieze chronicling seasonal shifts outside Hockney’s former Normandy studio. The exhibition will run from March 12 to August 23, 2026, at Serpentine North.

Gothenburg, Sweden’s historic Valhallabadet swimming pool may be demolished.

Gothenburg’s Valhallabadet swimming pool, a landmark of postwar architecture, faces demolition to make way for new sports facilities despite mounting opposition. Opened in 1956 and designed by Nils Olsson, the pool is celebrated for its Olympic medal-winning design and a vast mosaic by Nils Wedel. Cultural groups and architects argue the site remains a vital social hub and an important piece of Sweden’s heritage. City officials, however, say the building is outdated and plan to replace it with a new pool and arenas by 2031.

In the lead-up to its Seoul edition, Frieze has opened a permanent gallery space.

Frieze has established a permanent base in Seoul with the opening of Frieze House, a renovated 1988 residence in Yaksu-dong. The year-round space will host residencies, curated shows, and cross-cultural collaborations, anchoring its garden with a reflective rain-collecting installation by SANAA. Its inaugural exhibition, UnHouse, curated by Jae Seok Kim, reimagines domestic space through queer perspectives, filling the multiroom structure with works by both Korean and international artists.
