Sotheby’s will auction a monumental Rothko.

Sotheby’s will auction works from the collection of Robert and Adriana Mnuchin this spring. The sale, estimated to exceed $130 million, will be led by a monumental, museum-worthy Mark Rothko painting valued at $70 million to $100 million. The consignment reflects Mnuchin’s decades-long focus on postwar and contemporary art, with works by artists such as Willem de Kooning, Franz Kline, Jeff Koons, and David Hammons. The sale follows the recent closure of Mnuchin Gallery after Robert Mnuchin’s death.

Icelandic art and perfume collective Fischersund staged a scented concert.

Icelandic fragrance brand Fischersund staged its first scented concert in Paris—at Dover Street Market during Paris Fashion Week—blending live music, visual art, and perfume into a multi-sensory performance. The 50-minute event was created and performed by the Fischersund Music Collective—featuring Jónsi of Sigur Rós, Kjartan Holm, and Sin Fang, with scents released in synchronization with the soundscape and visuals to guide the audience through an immersive narrative.

Sofia Coppola is bringing a ‘Marie Antoinette’ exhibition to Versailles.

The Palace of Versailles will host a new exhibition celebrating Sofia Coppola’s 2006 film Marie Antoinette to mark the movie’s 20th anniversary. Running September 22 through January 24, 2027, the exhibit will present Milena Canonero’s Oscar-winning costumes, along with storyboards, annotated scripts, set photographs, filming accessories, and set-design sketches, with several items displayed publicly for the first time. The exhibition will also screen clips from the film inside the very rooms at Versailles where they were shot.

The moon rose over Hermès for Fall/Winter 2026.

Hermès presented its Fall/Winter 2026 womenswear collection at Paris Fashion Week inside the Garde Républicaine barracks, which had been transformed into a forest-like set featuring a moss-covered floor, earthy scents, and glowing circular openings resembling moons. Designed to evoke the twilight moment “entre chien et loup” (between day and night), the winding runway above the moss framed the collection’s refined silhouettes, supple leather pieces, and layered textures.

Balenciaga’s Pierpaolo Piccioli collaborated with Euphoria creator Sam Levinson.

Balenciaga creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli collaborated with Sam Levinson, the creator of HBO’s Euphoria, to shape the atmosphere and narrative of the brand’s Fall/Winter 2026 collection, titled ClairObscur. Inspired partly by Caravaggio’s dramatic use of light and shadow, the project explored the idea of “finding light in darkness,” reflecting both the emotional tone of Euphoria and Piccioli’s aim to create a “fresco of humanity” through fashion. Levinson contributed cinematic elements—including visual installations and music cues from artists like Hans Zimmer, Labrinth, and Rosalía—blending the visual language of television and runway into a multimedia fashion presentation.
