The Met published high-definition 3D scans of art historical objects.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art will publish more than 100 high-resolution 3D models of artworks from across its collection, allowing users to rotate, zoom, and examine objects online—or through augmented-reality experiences on smartphones and VR headsets. The research-grade scans—many available for free download under the museum’s Open Access CC0 license—include works such as a 3rd-century marble sarcophagus, a statue of Horus protecting King Nectanebo II (360–343 BCE), and Kano Sansetsu’s Old Plum (1646). Nine monumental objects, including Van Gogh’s Wheat Field with Cypresses (1889) and Canova’s Perseus with the Head of Medusa (1804–06), were created in collaboration with NHK using laser scanning and photogrammetry.

Pieter Mulier presented his final collection for Alaïa.

Pieter Mulier presented Alaïa’s Fall 2026 collection, his final show for the house before his upcoming move to Versace as chief creative officer starting July 2026. The collection reinforced the sculptural, body-conscious aesthetic he developed at Alaïa, emphasizing precise tailoring, strong silhouettes, and the brand’s signature focus on craftsmanship and form. The show also marked an important moment in the fashion calendar, as Mulier’s departure closes a significant chapter for the brand following several influential seasons redefining modern Alaïa’s architectural approach to womenswear.

The Art Institute of Chicago’s potential expansion could impact the historic stock exchange room.

The Art Institute of Chicago is considering an expansion that could significantly reshape the Chicago Stock Exchange Trading Room, a historic 5,700-square-foot gallery originally built in 1893–94 and reconstructed in the museum after being saved from demolition in the 1970s. The space has long served as both a visitor landmark and an event venue, but its location on the east side of the museum makes it a potential site for expanding gallery space. The project, supported by a $75 million gift from trustee Aaron Fleischman and Lin Lougheed, is still in early planning stages as the museum explores ways to display more of its collection.

Sotheby’s spring auctions in London commenced with $175 million in sales across 54 lots.

In London, Sotheby’s modern and contemporary evening sale brought in £130.6 million ($175 million) across 54 lots. Afterward, auctioneer Oliver Barker was given a white glove—an honorary indication that all the lots had sold. The event brought in 108 percent more than its equivalent last March. The auction featured works spanning Impressionism through contemporary art—including pieces by Claude Monet, Francis Bacon, Lucio Fontana, Pablo Picasso, and Jean-Michel Basquiat.

Prada Group shares plans for the future of Versace.

Prada Group outlined its strategy for revitalizing Versace following the €1.25 billion acquisition from Capri Holdings, which closed in December 2025. This follows news that the group reported 2025 revenues of €5.72 billion, up 9 percent year-on-year. The turnaround will initially focus on improving product quality and structure, refining distribution and brand positioning, and shifting toward full-price sales while reducing reliance on off-price channels and markdowns, with plans to streamline collections and potentially discontinue sub-brands like Versace Jeans Couture.
