The MIT List Visual Arts Center’s fall program brings together three distinct exhibitions that trace the intersections of body, technology, and mortality. “Goldin+Senneby: Flare-Up” (through March 15) marks the Stockholm-based duo’s first U.S. solo museum show, exploring how illness and ecology intertwine through the lens of multiple sclerosis. “American Artist: To Acorn” (through March 15) investigates the legacy of Octavia Butler and the politics of race and technology through new sculptures, drawings, and videos that consider how knowledge is made and transmitted. In “List Projects 33: Every Ocean Hughes” (through December 14), the artist presents One Big Bag, a video installation centered on a death doula’s monologue, reflecting on the labor and intimacy of care at the end of life. Together, the exhibitions examine how systems—bodily, social, and spiritual—shape human experience.
