The 2025 edition of the Performa Biennial marks the organization’s 20th anniversary, bringing a program of 54 artists and collectives from around the globe to New York City. Over three weeks, the festival presents new commissions, collaborations, and experimental projects in venues across Manhattan, Brooklyn, and beyond, highlighting live performance as a vital contemporary art form. Key presentations include Tau Lewis’s operatic work inside Harlem Parish, Diane Severin Nguyen’s reimagined Vietnam War-era music at BRIC, Aria Dean’s immersive staging of historical dialogue at Abrons Art Center, as well as new commissions from Camille Henrot, Sylvie Fleury, and Isabel Lewis. The Biennial also features the Lithuanian Pavilion Without Walls, participatory workshops at Performa Studio, and citywide projects that examine performance in dialogue with history, cinema, and the urban environment.
