Designer of the Day: Russell Hill, RAD

RAD’s Atwater storefront hums with the energy of the Los Angeles creative scene — natural wine flowing, perforated skateboards catching air, and a steady pulse of community. At its core, co-founders Russell Hill and Ryan Anderson blur the line between function and expression, building a North American hub for design voices that challenge the ordinary. Together, they translate raw materials into furniture, sculpture, and shared spaces that bring the language of industrial design into daily life.

Surface Toasts Art Basel Miami Beach with Olujo Añejo Tequila

In the warm glow of the lavish, visually layered private dining room of Major Food Group’s Chateau ZZ’s, Surface toasted the commencement of Art Basel Miami Beach with Olujo Añejo Tequila. The private membership club and Mexican fine-dining concept, housed in a castle-like estate from 1931, welcomed fine artists, design leaders, and cultural entrepreneurs—many of whom have become fixtures of Miami Art Week over the years—for a convivial night of live music, conversation, and anticipation for the forthcoming events. Olujo Añejo Tequila was served neat in champagne flutes, for a series of toasts, as well as within a suite of signature cocktails, including the refreshing Prickly Pear Margarita, the bright Yuzu Serrano, and the velvety Espresso Martini. The three-course dinner passed from lobster garza and sweet corn elote to skirt steak al pastor with arroz pilaf before concluding with fresh fried churros and flan con coco. A sense of excitement ran from the introductory cocktail hour through the final farewells.
