Rhizome—the organization long championing dialogue between contemporary art and digital technology—will host the next edition of its signature Seven on Seven (7×7) program at the New Museum on May 16. Since its 2010 debut, the illuminating gathering pairs seven artists with seven technologists and tasks them with making something new together—then presenting it during the public conference. This year’s theme, Containment, addresses more than control, but also interdependence, care and concern, study, and contingency. Curated by Rhizome with collaborators Neema Githere and 邊界 BiānJiè (Elena Carbajal, Ian Margo, and Alexandre Montserrat | 世然), the collaborations presented within 7×7 are often continued after the one-day event.
