Bio: Tarini Sethi (b. 1987, India) lives and works in New Delhi, India. I hold a BFA in drawing from Pratt Institute, New York.
Title of work: The Sun Bathes Its Friends And Neighbours.
Where to see it: Regent’s Park, London.
Three words to describe this work: Theatre, Light Play, Mythology.
What was on your mind at the time: The stories of the Indian past and the possibilities of India’s future.
An interesting feature that’s not immediately noticeable: The kinetic faces that hang on every screen that moves with the wind.
How the work reflects your practice as a whole: The sculpture is an amalgamation of my practice as a whole. It talks of utopian futures, myths and symbolism from India, focuses on the body as a site of infinite possibility and uses the Sun as a conductor of theatre that moves and shifts the sculpture through the day.
One song that captures the work’s essence: Sunshine by Jungle.
