More than 100 experimental gowns, headpieces, and jewelry by such boundary-pushing fashion designers as Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood, and Iris Van Herpen explore symbols of womanhood and challenge conventional notions of beauty in this exhibition produced by Barrett Barrera Projects. Organized into seven archetypal personality types derived from recurring motifs in myths and fairy tales, the show unpacks our understanding of the visual symbolism of female identity.
