For nearly a century, beginning with Coco Chanel’s costumes for the Ballets Russes, distinguished couturiers have quietly created garments for dancers. Crafting clothes that function as athletic gear that don’t merely replicate runway looks, however, is no easy feat. This exhibition showcases success stories, including a fish-like ensemble by Issey Miyake, a trio of tulle spheres by Walter Van Beirendonck, and a laser-cut, heat-bonded tutu by Iris van Herpen.
