The star-studded group exhibition questions conventional art-making methods by shedding light on the divergent conceptual frameworks of participating artists such as Kehinde Wiley, Antony Gormley, and George Condo. Maynard Morrow’s sculptural work, for example, plays with the optical and cultural power of neon to question logic through an exercise in semiotics, while Brian Kenny’s sports-jersey appliqué banners interrogate the notion of machismo in garmenting. The show runs concurrent with “Andy Warhol: When Your 15 Minutes of Fame Comes to an End,” which revisits the late artist’s rarely exhibited Sex Parts and Torsos series of intimate male nude photographic works on Polaroid.
