Ernesto Neto: Between Earth and Sky
May 14, 2022 - June 16, 2022

Drawing on biomorphism, Arte Povera, and Brazilian avant-garde movements of the 1960s and ‘70s, Ernesto Neto has become known for his immersive environments of vibrant color, fragrance, and sound, and for his use of natural materials. His latest outing sees Tanya Bonakdar Gallery’s New York outpost transformed into a fantastical exploration of the dynamic between humans and the environment as inseparable entities. Viewers can take off their shoes, lie down on a carpet, and gaze up to experience a moment of meditation within a giant cotton crocheted sculpture that represents leaves falling from a tree that uses weight and gravity to dictate form.
