Gala Porras-Kim: Precipitation for an Arid Landscape
November 20, 2021 - March 17, 2022

Gala Porras-Kim traces the life of cultural artifacts, whether designated as heritage sites or relocated from their original locations to museums, as a study in displacement. In doing so, the Colombian-born artist reveals how modern-day museology doesn’t necessarily correspond to historical truth or leave room for questioning the unknown. By helping to enrich our understanding of such historical objects—how they speak, for whom, and for what purposes—she aims to establish a new ethics of care.
