Regent Hotel, Villagio Vista North Airport Road Opposite African, Accra, Ghana
Spotlighting the work of up-and-coming painters Chukwudubem Busayo Ukaigwe, Matthew Eguavoen Imuetiyan, and Emmanuel Amoo, the Accra gallery’s first-ever group exhibition is helping forge a new, broader constellation of African identity and representation. Much like its namesake, the Nigerian musician and activist Fela Kuti’s 1973 Afrobeat album Gentleman, the show features poignant works that speak out against neocolonialism and make the case for breaking away from predominantly Westernized ways of thinking.
