Saint Laurent creative director Anthony Vaccarello commissioned the Japanese artist and Placeholder founder to showcase a selection of works from his series “Sunrise from a Small Window,” which emerged out of a daily meditation on the contrast between the morning sky and chaotic news cycle. The idea evolved from a visual and emotional interpretation of the political and environmental landscape featured on the front page of the New York Times, hiding individual details under a layer of paint that captures the natural beauty of the sunrise.
