Soft Baroque: Sun City
April 15, 2021 - May 28, 2021
Via Paullo 12/A,
20135 Milan

Inspired equally by the sun’s life-giving and destructive potential, this immersive show brings together an assortment of work by Soft Baroque that makes reference to how the sun has been revered as a deity for millennia and recognized for its role as the ultimate source of light and energy. For example, the lower level features LED-equipped cabinets that play host to real cannabis plants, while an installation of stacked sun loungers are covered with Marsèll’s classic yellow calfskin leather as somewhat of an ersatz human skin complete with droplets of sweat. “Due to our dependency on hydrocarbons, we’ve lost our reliance on the sun’s power,” said Soft Baroque founders Saša Štucin and Nicholas Gardner. “But now we’ll need it again, so let’s look directly at it!”
