The first-ever Swiss solo exhibition for uUpstate New York-based artist Uman, “A Fantastic Woman” brings mesmeric new paintings, works on paper, and a site-specific wall mural to Hauser & Wirth’s Zurich outpost. Curated in partnership with Nicola Vassell Gallery, the show brims with color, as the artist toys with patterns, dots, and figures, and channels the abstract spirit of color field painting. Concurrent to this, other large-scale pieces embrace lattice structures and grids. All works are a visual feast with a depth that requires contemplation. Following the Zurich exhibit, Uman will become the artist in residence at Hauser & Wirth Somerset. In October, she will have her debut US solo museum exhibition at Ridgefield, Connecticut’s The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum.
