Jannik Sinner Designs Explora Journeys’ Ocean Wellness Program

Five-time Grand Slam champion Jannik Sinner may not be the first person one expects to design a wellness program for ultra-luxury ocean travel brand Explora Journeys. Yet the partnership makes sense to anyone familiar with the focus, work ethic, and poise of the first Italian to reach No. 1 in the ATP rankings. Sinner, a champion junior skier before committing to tennis at age 13, sees the partnership as one of shared values. “It is about excellence, but also about balance and creating the space to perform at your best,” he shares with Surface.

“In Balance: A Jannik Sinner Ocean Wellness Programme” forges a custom guest experience—predicated on both physical and mental wellbeing—from the heightened discipline of elite competition. “For me, it was important that the partnership went beyond simply being a brand collaboration,” Sinner adds. “We wanted to create something meaningful that could share some of the principles that are part of my life as a professional athlete and make them accessible to guests.”

To learn more about the program—which includes one-to-one workout session, guided breathwork, therapeutic muscle-release treatments, and a circuit within the thermal features of Ocean Wellness – The Spa—we spoke with Sinner following his win at the 2026 Wimbledon Championships.

Would you please speak to your relationship to wellness—and are there any musings you’d like to share about the wellness world?

Wellness and recovery have become more and more important in professional sports. In the ‘90s, very few players travelled with their physiotherapists, whereas nowadays it is much more common. Most players take ice baths regularly, as they can help with recovery. At Wimbledon, we stayed in a new house and I very much enjoyed using the Jacuzzi at the end of a long match or an intense day of practice.

What’s the allure of a collaboration like this?

I think the most interesting collaborations are the ones based on a genuine connection between the people and the values behind the partnership. With Explora Journeys, there is a shared European heritage and a similar approach to excellence with an appreciation for precision, quality and attention to detail, but also for living well and finding balance.

I also like that this collaboration allows me to share a part of my world beyond tennis. As an athlete, so much of what happens behind the scenes is about discipline, preparation and recovery, but also about having the right balance in your life. These are principles that can be relevant to everyone, not only professional athletes. Being able to translate some of those ideas into experiences that guests can enjoy during their Journey, and take inspiration from afterwards, is what makes the collaboration particularly meaningful to me.

How did you and your team translate the discipline of elite competition into a custom guest experience?

We wanted to take the principles behind elite performance—preparation, precision, focus, and recovery—and translate them into something meaningful and accessible to every guest. My game may look fluid and effortless, but that comes from a lot of discipline and preparation behind the scenes, and that was the thinking we wanted to bring into In Balance.

The programme is built around four pillars: Train, Re-centre, Restore, and Renew. From one-to-one training focused on precision and control, to breathwork for mental clarity, restorative treatments for physical recovery, and the hot-and-cold thermal circuit to renew and rebalance, each element reflects a different part of the performance process.

For me, the important thing is that wellness is not only about pushing yourself. Knowing when to train, when to recover and how to reset mentally is just as important. Together with my performance team we wanted guests to experience that balance for themselves and, importantly, take something away from the programme that they can continue to incorporate into their everyday lives long after their Journey onboard Explora Journeys has ended.
