Wintour Remembers Sozzani
Franca Sozzani, the veteran editor-in-chief of Italian Vogue, died on Dec. 22. A close friend and colleague, Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour has written Sozzani a poignant, personal obituary.
The Art of Diplomacy
The Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden has announced a partnership with the U.S. Department of State’s Art in Embassies program, which aims to facilitate diplomacy through visual art. “Through culture, we can introduce ideas,” said Virginia Shore, acting director and chief curator of Art in Embassies.
Studio Libeskind unveiled plans for a new Holocaust memorial in Amsterdam, which will include the names of all 102,000 Dutch victims. “My personal connection as a child of Holocaust survivors has made it increasingly important to be a part of this significant project,” said principal Daniel Libeskind.
Safilo Group SpA—the company that manufactures eyewear for Dior, Fendi, and Hugo Boss—is developing smart glasses. While some companies have experimented with using glasses as a display for the wearer, the Safilo product will relay information about the user’s brainwaves to an app.
Carolina Herrera has filed a suit against Oscar de la Renta to stop designer Laura Kim, who had briefly worked for Herrera, from joining de la Renta as co-creative director.
