Here, we ask designers to take a selfie and give us an inside look at their life.
Studio location: Paris.
Describe what you make: We make lighting using our glassblowing and brass studios.
The most important thing you’ve designed to date: The answer to this question changes every day.
Describe the problem your work solves: Existing in the design world as craftsmen.
Describe the project you are working on now: We’re currently working on a five-story staircase lighting installation for a big client in Lyon. It’s a very ambitious and contemporary design made of steel and solid glass globes. It’ll be more than 17 meters (56 feet) high and comprise four vertical branches. We’re also working on two big lighting installations for a Cartier boutique in China made of big rippled sheets of polished brass. The finish will look like the surface of water with a golden light.
A new or forthcoming project we should know about: All are top-secret.
What you absolutely must have in your studio: That’s easy… music and coffee!
What you do when you’re not working: Eat, sleep, and walk the dog.
Sources of creative envy: Van Gogh, James Turrell, Stephen Hawking, and Bob Marley..
The distraction you want to eliminate: Smartphone.
