A Sunny Picnic to Celebrate Charles and Ray Eames

On Sept. 17, Herman Miller hosted an intimate preview of the new Herman Miller x HAY Collection at the Eames House overlooking the ocean in Pacific Palisades. The collection sees the Danish design house thoughtfully reimagine eight Charles and Ray Eames classics, including the Shell Chair now made in recycled plastic. Guests enjoyed a relaxed picnic in a nearby meadow, lounging on updated outdoor-friendly Wire Chairs while enjoying finger foods inspired by the duo’s favorites—deviled eggs with salmon roe, potato and artichoke heart tart, edible flower salad, and more dreamed up by food-art studio Ananas Ananas—and drinks provided by Eric Wareheim’s Las Jaras Wine and Ghia. Notable attendees include Mette Hay, Alex Tieghi-Walker, Peter Shire, Scott Sternberg, and more. Photos by Jennelle Fong.
