STAY At the Cavendish Hotel, Old World Charm Meets Au Courant Sensibility
British countryside getaway The Cavendish Hotel recently added a new chapter to its history with London-based interior designer Nicola Harding’s reimagining of the 18th-century property. Its interiors are done up in finishes from Paint & Paper Library, Pierre Frey wallcoverings, and repurposed antiques—think fire hydrants turned into lamps and sconces fashioned from horse-drawn carriages—creating a lived-in sophistication befitting a historic estate everywhere from the common areas to the 28 guest rooms.

PLAY Assouline Greets Riyadh with a Palatial Library and Lounge
The Parisian publisher Assouline is synonymous with transforming the written word into collectible works of art. Now, its international maisons are applying that savoir-faire to interiors. Its latest, a sprawling piano lounge, restaurant, and library recently opened in the Saudi Arabian cultural capital of Riyadh. There, gilt-inlaid carved wood paneling, velvet-upholstered seating in a striking shade of oxblood, and a covetable selection of Assouline titles play off of sweeping terrace vistas of the historic Diriyah district. —J.A.D.

OBSESS In the Aftermath of the L.A. Wildfires, Blu Dot Will Replace Recently Acquired Pieces
As organizations, brands, and individuals work toward alleviating some of the hardship caused by the L.A. wildfires, home furnishing and decor brand Blu Dot has vowed to replace—for free—any of their pieces purchased in the last year that have been destroyed under the tragic circumstances. “While we know that there are far more important things to think about than furniture right now, we also want to let you know that we’re here for you when the time comes to put things back together,” John Christakos, co-founder and CEO of Blu Dot, shared with Surface. To initiate the replacement process, customers should stop by Blu Dot’s West Hollywood store and connect with the team to work through all of the details.—D.G.
