Designer: Martin Brudnizki Design Studio
Location: New York City
On offer: The Upper East Side stalwart once served as a discreet haven for celebrities and artists—including JFK and Bette Davis—returns as Corinthia Hotels’ inaugural North American venture. Known for its limestone facade and Beaux-Arts elegance, the 16-story property brings fresh energy to the storied address with 70 guest rooms, 30 suites, and 14 private residences. Miami and Aspen staple Casa Tua makes its New York debut with an all-day Mediterranean restaurant, anchored by an open-kitchen chef’s table, and a stylish lounge and exclusive members club above. In partnership with Sisley Paris, The Surrey Spa focuses on plant-based ingredients and is equipped with a steam room, sensorial shower, salt relaxation room, and secluded rooftop garden.
Standout features: Texture and light are the driving forces behind the refresh by Martin Brudnizki Design Studios. Handcrafted Murano chandeliers cast their glow across a sophisticated play of colors, while thoughtfully detailed millwork and period-inspired windows ground each space in architectural intention. The palette reads like a love letter to Manhattan’s natural attributes: atmospheric blues capture the midday sky, verdant tones echo the city’s hidden gardens, and sun-warmed terracotta hints at golden hour.
In the signature suites, Brudnizki pays homage to Central Park’s iconic bridges with subtle gestures that hark back to the building’s 19th-century roots. Throughout, VISTO Gallery’s carefully assembled art collection charts New York’s creative evolution from the Jazz Age forward—George Condo figures and Robert Mapplethorpe’s striking photography; contemporary pieces by Brooklyn-based Ethan Cook and Turkish illustrator Gizem Vural—putting established masters and bold new voices in conversation.
