Art Basel Miami Beach
December 7, 2017 - December 10, 2017
Miami Beach Convention Center, 1901 Convention Center Drive, Miami Beach, FL 33139

The country’s premier art fair marks its 16th edition with 268 international galleries presenting a range of classical works and new art within sectors such as Positions (for emerging talents), Edition (printed and editioned work), and Nova (new work by contemporary artists). Films, conversations, and public installations are also on the agenda. Read on for more highlights.

This sector teems with 25 themed, solo, and art-historical presentations, including displays of Anni Albers’s early prints at Alan Cristea Gallery, light artist Brigitte Kowanz’s new sculptures at Galerie Krinzinger, and photography by the 1940s Japanese collective The Experimental Workshop at Annely Juda Fine Art.

Curated by Philipp Kaiser, the fair’s Public sector presents “Territorial,” an open exhibition at Collins Park featuring site-specific outdoor sculptures, interventions, and performances.

Celebrating work created prior to 2000, the fourth edition of the Survey section will highlight the careers of 16 artists including British abstract expressionist Frank Bowling, Chilean conceptual artist Carlos Leppe, and the pioneering Brazilian video artist Letícia Parente.

Drawing parallels between Mexican political paintings and muralism, the Mexican collective Tercerunquinto will be live-painting campaign murals at the Proyectos Monclova booth, accompanied by a video that highlights the medias’ visual and conceptual links.
