Artwork, photographs, and first-hand testimony help to illustrate the world as it was for a young Jean-Michel Basquiat, who, at barely 20 years old, was living and feverishly working out of a grungy apartment in the East Village with his friend Alexis Adler. The expansive yet highly personal show will offer a glimpse of the processes, influences, and tendencies that shaped Basquiat shortly before he found success.
