“Home,” Korean designer, ceramicist, and sculptor Hun Chung Lee’s fourth solo exhibition with R & Company, marks his first departure from standalone art furniture into a fully realized domestic environment. With over 30 pieces spanning a dining set, chairs, a bed, fireplace, and lighting, alongside his signature moon jars, all pieces are hand-built and glazed in stoneware. The exhibition also heralds the debut of R & Company’s newly consolidated Tribeca space at 82 Franklin Street, where Lee has also designed a permanent bathroom clad in celadon-glazed stoneware. At the same time, a second presentation of Lee’s work, “Where Immortals Sing and Dance,” opens September 19 at Manitoga, the Garrison estate once home to designer Russel Wright, with sculptural pieces sited along the property’s footpath and inside Wright’s midcentury studio.
