Raúl de Nieves is harnessing his heritage to debut a series of whimsical sculptures that explore personal transformation. The Mexican multidisciplinary artist takes inspiration from culture of his home country, as well as religious symbols, mythological references, and folk stories to render a visual language that studies evolution by adornment and the fluidity of gender and sexuality. Here, he delivers a nuanced examination of memory in a playful fashion by deploying his signature approach to art and sculpture.
