Dedicated to nurturing the local and global design community, the eighth edition of this annual design event, part of NYCxDESIGN, presents a full program spread across two venues in Brooklyn (May 17–21) and Manhattan (May 19–22), featuring independent studios, emerging talents, and an international presence. Read on for some exhibition highlights.

American Design Honors 2018
In its fourth year, Wanted Design’s flagship award recognizes Oliver Haslegrave and his Brooklyn-based studio Home Studios, whose work furnishes the interiors of New York restaurants such as The Spaniard and Elsa. The Manhattan event showcases the interior designer’s latest pieces in an installation.

Launch Pad
At Wanted Design Manhattan, the fifth edition of this showcase spotlights 33 emerging designers in the fields of furniture and lighting, including Art & Guile, Pezzi, and d’Armes.

“Outside the Box”
Held in Brooklyn in collaboration with the Toronto Design Offsite Festival, the eighth iteration of this exhibition arrays 12 boxes to represent 12 cities across North America and Canada, each containing work by the area’s makers and designers—including Montreal’s All Studio, Seattle’s Fruit Super, and Fogo Island’s Claudia Brahms—who present small design objects that explore materiality, after this year’s theme, “Matter.”

Rado Star Prize U.S.
The Swiss watch brand will use its booth to showcase designs conceived by ten finalists for the third Rado Star Prize U.S., awarded each year to one emerging talent. Themed “Design Inspired by Nature,” the creations on view feature a wide range of concepts that take on the prompt, including Mariam Turkey’s minimalist planter for growing herbs at home, Susy Weave’s modernist furniture melding felt and concrete, and Jie Qian’s vision for a bike helmet that reflects light to increase visibility of cyclists on the road. The winner will be announced at a ceremony on May 18.
