A Masked Ball at City Ballet Channels the Majesty of Balanchine’s Vienna Waltzes

For this year’s Spring Gala, New York City Ballet treated guests to an ethereal experience with a performance of George Balanchine’s five-act spectacle, Vienna Waltzes. Before the performance, gala chair Diana Taylor set the tone for the evening by sharing that $2.7 million had already been raised to benefit the company. A scene of Viennese splendor then unfolded as more than 50 of the company’s dancers transported viewers to enchanted forests and imperial palaces. Afterward, performers and guests dined and danced the night away on the theater’s promenade as the gala’s masked ball unfolded. Notables in attendance included Claire Danes, Hugh Dancy, Ariana DeBose, Nina Dobrev, Diane Kruger, Michael Bloomberg, Debbie Harry, Al Roker, and more.
