The Hispanic Society Museum will auction 45 works at Christie’s to fund new acquisitions.
The Hispanic Society Museum and Library will auction 45 Old Master paintings at Christie’s on October 17 to raise funds for new acquisitions and collection care. The sale includes works linked to the workshops of El Greco, Velázquez, and Titian, many depicting religious and aristocratic subjects. The deaccession follows two years of research identifying pieces outside the museum’s core mission and aligns with museum standards that permit such sales to strengthen and preserve collections. Proceeds will support the institution’s ongoing efforts to diversify and responsibly expand its holdings.

Galia Lahav and Leibish have created a million-dollar diamond-encrusted wedding gown.
Galia Lahav and Leibish have unveiled a $1 million wedding gown from Lahav’s fall 2026 “Keepsake” collection, featuring a hand-dyed antique lace bodice and draped taffeta skirt. The design reaches its seven-figure value through a detachable 30-carat baroque ruby pin encrusted with diamonds, which can be worn separately as fine jewelry. The gown is available for private appointment purchase or as a rental, with a more affordable version incorporating lab-grown gems priced at $55,000. The piece embodies Lahav’s vision of a wedding dress as both a luxury statement and a lasting family keepsake.

One of the few Usonian homes ever built by Frank Lloyd Wright has achieved landmark status.
The Kalil House in Manchester, New Hampshire—one of only seven Usonian Automatic homes Frank Lloyd Wright ever completed—has been added to the National Register of Historic Places. Built in 1957 for Toufic and Mildred Kalil, the concrete-block residence reflects Wright’s late-career experiment with modular, cost-efficient housing. The Currier Museum of Art, which also owns Wright’s nearby Zimmerman House, acquired the property in 2019 and maintains it with its original furnishings and fixtures intact. The designation recognizes both the home’s exceptional preservation and its significance within Wright’s broader effort to make modern architecture accessible to everyday Americans.
