Prix Versailles names eight standout campus buildings for 2026.
The Prix Versailles award program has released its annual list of the World’s Most Beautiful Universities, spotlighting eight campus buildings where architecture goes beyond housing classrooms and labs, reflecting a broader shift toward campuses that foster collaboration and connection to nature. Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) landed two wins: Claremont McKenna College’s Robert Day Sciences Center and the Bloomberg Student Center at Johns Hopkins University. Other honorees include UNSW Sydney’s Health Translation Hub by Architectus, evoking coastal dunes while embedding Indigenous design elements; the University of Cambridge’s Ray Dolby Centre by Jestico + Whiles, the UK’s largest physics research facility; Oxford’s Stephen A. Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities by Hopkins Architects; the University of Amsterdam’s library, a converted hospital by MVSA Architects and Buro van Stigt; the University of Arkansas’s timber-forward Anthony Timberlands Center by Grafton Architects; and Harvard’s David Rubenstein Treehouse by Studio Gang, the university’s first mass-timber building.

Uma Thurman’s Pulp Fiction costume is heading to auction more than 30 years after Quentin Tarantino’s 1994 film turned it into a style symbol. The white button-up and cropped Agnès B kick-flares worn by Mia Wallace during the Jack Rabbit Slim’s scene will be auctioned August 26 at the Peterson Automotive Museum in Los Angeles, with Propstore estimating $15,000 to $30,000.
Contemporary artist Marcel Dzama designs the 2026 New York Film Festival poster.
Film at Lincoln Center has unveiled the poster for the 64th New York Film Festival, designed by Marcel Dzama. Dzama joins a long line of artists who have contributed festival posters since its inception, including David Hockney, Diane Arbus, Josef Albers, and Nan Goldin. Presented with Rolex, NYFF64 runs September 25 through October 12. Limited-edition posters are available through Posteritati, with a small supply also sold at Film at Lincoln Center’s merchandise stores during the festival.
Betye Saar, pioneer of assemblage art and Black empowerment, dies at 99.
Betye Saar, the artist known for using found objects to confront stereotypes about Black identity and women, has died at 99. A defining figure of the Black Arts Movement and a pioneer of assemblage art, Saar traced her practice to childhood visits to Watts, where she watched artist Simon Rodia build his towering sculptures from scavenged materials. Her work has been shown at LACMA, the Whitney, and MoMA, which hosted a solo show in 2019. “All her life, Betye dismantled racist imagery, transforming it into a monument of black empowerment,” said MoMA director Christophe Cherix. She continued working into her late nineties.
Venice’s historic Danieli Hotel reopens under Four Seasons.
Danieli, Venezia, A Four Seasons Hotel has reopened on the Riva degli Schiavoni in Venice, spanning three connected palazzos: Palazzo Dandolo, built in 1471 as the residence of the Dandolo family; Palazzo Casa Nuova, formerly home to the Treasury of the Venetian Republic; and Palazzo Danieli Excelsior. Palazzo Dandolo and Palazzo Casa Nuova were renovated by interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon, reopening with 120 rooms and suites; the total will expand to 168 once restoration of Palazzo Danieli Excelsior is complete in 2027. Interiors incorporate Murano glass, terrazzo flooring, and Rubelli textiles in a palette of celadon green, blue, terracotta, ochre, and powder pink. In the Palazzo Dandolo lobby, a hand-painted, gilded quatrefoil ceiling set against an azure background has been restored, along with the columns, stonework, and grand staircase; the hotel’s art collection includes intaglios, Venetian engravings, and antiqued mirrors. The reopening adds to Four Seasons’ Italian portfolio, which also includes properties in Milan, Florence, and Taormina.
