DESIGNER OF THE DAY

Designer of the Day: Adam Hunter

Despite his past life as a Broadway actor who headlined Les Misérables, Ragtime, and Baz Luhrmann’s La Bohème, Adam Hunter’s penchant for the theatrical is perhaps at its peak. Now a widely known interior designer in Los Angeles, he brings poise, balance, and his own radiant personality to the city’s most idyllic residences, where he lets subtle, dramatic moments steal the spotlight.

The most important thing you’ve designed to date: Wow, this is an interesting question. Everything that I design is important to me! My designs are constantly evolving. If I had to pick one, it’d be my current residence. Technology runs our lives so I’ve incorporated it into every aspect of the design at my place.

Describe the problem your work solves: I solve relationship problems. I’m kidding… kind of. With design comes deep discussion of wants and needs. I make sure that my clients are happy with a cohesive and personal design of their home.

Describe the project you are working on now: I’m working on multiple projects. The one I’m most excited for are my luxury technology products. Stay tuned.

A new or forthcoming project we should know about: My place. Late July, big dinner party!

What you absolutely must have in your studio: My studio on Melrose? Vibes, Bodhi, white wine (just in case), natural light, and life. I’m all for a happy and inspiring workplace.

What you do when you’re not working: Watch GOT.

Sources of creative envy: Mies van der Rohe.

The distraction you want to eliminate: Instagram.
