In Qatar, Dior Unveils a Baroque Lounge for VICs

The jewel box of a salon designed by Dimorestudio is a reservations-only portal to the maison’s rarefied creations.

Dior Doha Place Vendôme

Location: Doha, Qatar

Designer: Dimorestudio

On Offer: With its open-air layout, French-style architecture, and proximity to one of the World Cup 2022 stadiums, Doha’s new Place Vendôme mall is a mecca of luxury retail. Hermès, BVLGARI, Gucci, Valentino, Bottega Veneta—fashion’s biggest names all planted a flag in the sprawling 12,000,000-square-foot complex. Dior, in particular, upped the ante and proved again that the industry’s arms race to dazzle Very Important Clients (VICs) is just getting started. Within the massive womenswear boutique, one of its biggest in the Middle East, a jewel box of a lounge designed by Dimorestudio is a reservations-only portal to the maison’s rarefied creations.

Standout Elements: The Milan-based firm referenced the house’s DNA through cues such as gold leaf, reinvented Toile de Jouy pattern, and original artwork by Claire Basler that reinforces the interior’s floral theme. Spread across three rooms—the main salon, a fine jewelry area, and a made-to-order space—stunning baroque details provide vignettes for ready-to-wear dresses and leather handbags. Decorative furniture such as a rare Louis XVI De Brelan table from the 1800s and a sofa by Cini Boeri covered with a custom embroidered fabric by Dimorestudio are just a few of the historical pieces that foster a precious atmosphere befitting the big spenders.
