This Outdoor Lounger Will Never Get Old

“An Eames chair is like a Beatles song,” French designer Ronan Bouroullec once told an interviewer. In the same way a classic song entertains after countless listens, a classic design has “a certain lightness, a certain elegance.” A sense of immortality permeates all of Bouroullec’s work; he has been designing spare, shapely objects with his younger brother, Erwan, for nearly two decades. Their Palissade outdoor furniture line for Danish manufacturer HAY is a good example of the brothers’ flair for timelessness. Made of artfully curved powder-coated steel, the 13-piece collection includes benches, sofas, and lounge chairs and stools, shown here, in three colors. Since the pieces were conceived without a specific environment in mind, they’re comfortable in any setting or, for that matter, any decade.
