The Artistry of Alvin Ailey Infused This Year’s Whitney Art Party

Running through Feb 9., “Edges of Ailey” brings the legacy of choreographer Alvin Ailey to life in a never-before-seen way: as a large-scale, multimedia museum retrospective. This year’s Whitney Art Party—an annual fundraiser for the contemporary art institution—looked to the immersive exhibition for its thematic inspiration, as well as the opening days of Studio 54. Adorned in dazzling disco outfits, attendees toured the Whitney’s floors, and indulged in a Dobel tequila bar which occupied one of the Renzo Piano-designed building’s elevators. Jenny Albright DJ’d during the VIP hour, before The Muses stepped in to keep everyone dancing. Notables in attendance included Olivia Palermo, Ana Corrigan, Logan Lerman, Ally Shapiro, Shanika Hillocks, Christine Sun Kim, Mischa Barton, Emily Hampshire, JiaJia Fei, Quil Lemons, Micaela Erlanger, Salman Toor, Jill Stuart, Dianne Brill, and more.
