Mezcal Tosba

Mezcal Tosba, founded in the San Cristóbal Lachirioag region of Oaxaca, Mexico in 2004 by local cousins Edgar Gonzalez Ramirez & Elisandro Gonzalez Molina, is a unique spirit both in flavor and in origin related to other traditional Oaxacan mezcals. As first generation mezcaleros, the Gonzalez cousins drew inspiration from their time living in Silicon Valley in the late 1990s and embraced their entrepreneurism to help support the shrinking community in their homeland in the lush oases of Cajonos-Villa Alta in the remote Sierra Juárez mountains. With a shared vision for weaving traditional farming and distillation techniques with modernized sustainable practices, the cousins enriched their mezcal with smooth and unique flavor profiles, showcasing a whole new variety of wild and organic agaves, and forming a business that would go on to rescue the disappearing mezcal production of their native villages and help bring economic opportunity back to San Cristóbal and the greater Zapotec community. And so, Tosba Mezcal was born.
