Surface Kicks off Frieze London with Timothy Taylor and NTS Radio

Surface partnered with the gallerist and the London-based radio station to celebrate the start of this year’s fair.

After the Oct. 5 preview of the Frieze Art Fair in London, Surface threw a party with Timothy Taylor gallery and NTS Radio. The event took place at the Vinyl Factory, a space in the basement of the legendary Phonica Records in London’s Soho. More than 350 guests attended, including representatives from the Collective Design fair, the Museum of Arts and Design, and Frieze, as well as Surface contributing editor Nonie Niesewand. DJ sets by Nonsense and Charlie Bones kept the crowd dancing, with breaks for a live performance from the trio Moses Boyd.

The bar was made from the shipping crates used to transport work by Eddie Martinez to Frieze, where it is on view in Taylor’s booth. The hosts partnered with Voss, Beluga Vodka, Peroni, and Hendrick’s Gin to keep the containers well stocked.
